National Research Center for Radiation Medicine of National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine was founded on October 1, 1986. It is a major institution in the country dealing health issues related to the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant and other issues of radiation medicine and radiobiology in Ukraine. Since 1998 the Center has been collaborating with WHO in the areas of medical preparedness and assistance in radiation accidents.
Ukrainian Radiation Protection Institute (RPI) of the Academy of Technological Sciences of Ukraine was established in 1995 as a Private Joint Stock Company by Dr. Physics and Mathematics, Professor Illya Likhtarov. Over this time the RPI has developed into a reputable research and consultancy center for: radiation protection; development of safety standards, requirements, and quantitative criteria; radiological health hazard assessments; industrial and occupational radiation hygiene and health risk studies; dosimetry, environmental, and individual monitoring.
Institute of History of Ukraine provided scanned copies of historical maps for the Famine module. Established in 1936, the Institute of History of Ukraine is a research institution that examines topics pertaining to Ukrainian national history. After the restoration of state independence of Ukraine, the Institute of History of Ukraine worked on a number of important research projects, including analysis of the role and place of Ukraine in the European and global historical context over the last millennium; the phenomenon of Ukrainian Cossacks; and the origin and evolution of Ukrainian state idea.
Ptoukha Institute for Demography and Social Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine provided demographic data from archival records, such as census reports, for the Famine module. The Ptoukha Institute is a methodological, scientific, and organizational coordination center. Its research focuses on topics such as theory of demography, causes and consequences of demographic crisis, migration processes, gender policy, social infrastructure, standards of living, and more. It cooperates with international organizations such as the UN Development Programme, the World Bank, and the World Health Organization.
State Scientific and Production Enterprise “Kartohrafia" digitized historical maps for the Famine module. Kartohrafia supplies cartographic materials in paper and electronic form to the Ukrainian economy, science, education, culture, and defense fields, as well as to the general public. It carries out research & development and methodological research for the purpose of the development of cartographic science, government forecasts concerning development of cartography, and the creation of databanks and databases; and it improves the quality and competitiveness of cartographic products.
Kyiv International Institute of Sociology provided polling data for the 'Ukraine and Russia: Together or Apart?' module. KIIS is a private Ukrainian company which works in collaboration with the National University of “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy”. KIIS was founded in 1990 as a research center of Sociological Association of Ukraine and transformed into a private enterprise in 1992. It was a pioneer in the establishment of sociological research standards in Ukraine. KIIS has membership of major research associations, among others, the Sociological Association of Ukraine, Ukrainian Marketing Association, European Society for Opinion and Marketing Research (ESOMAR), AAPOR and WAPOR.
Sociological Group «Rating» (Rating Group Ukraine) was established in 2008 as a non-governmental, independent research organization specializing in all types of sociological researches in compliance with international standards approved by ESOMAR and WAPOR codes.«Rating» A Permanent member of the Sociological Association of Ukraine. The interviewers’ network includes over 300 people and it operates throughout Ukraine. Each year it holds up approximately 100 000 interviews and 100 focus group researches..
Info Sapiens team complies with the ICC/ESOMAR International Code of Marketing and Social Research Practice. Info Sapiens team members belong to the following Ukrainian and international associations: Ukrainian Sociological Association (САУ), International Sociological Association (ISA), Association for the Study of Nationalities (ASN), European Society for Opinion and Marketing Research (ESOMAR), International Political Science Association (IPSA), American Political Science Association (APSA), International Network for Social Network Analysis (INSNA). Info Sapiens team includes 33 persons, particularly, 10 researchers. Info Sapiens conducts fieldwork for GfK Ukraine projects and also independently conducts research projects, namely social and political surveys. The company possesses all-Ukraine network of interviewers and supervisors of about 800 persons, 140 devices for CAPI, CATI studio of 70 working places where 120 interviewers currently work, and online panel of 32,000 respondents.
The SOCIS Center is a leading sociological company in Ukraine engaged in social, political and marketing researches. Years of membership in the GALLUP International Association, joint work with a global leader – TNS as well as high professional training of the staff ensure the proper quality, reliability and efficiency of the Center work and which make cooperation with the company attractive to clients. The main activities of the SOCIS Center are research of various social problems, public opinion, and marketing researches, as well as participation in international research projects and social programs.
University of St. Gallen, Razumkov Center and Ukrainian Institute of National Memory provided survey data for the History and Identity, Religious Revolution, and Language modules.
University of St. Gallen 'Ukrainian Regionalism' research initiative has united historians, sociologists, anthropologists, economists, literary critics and linguists from Ukraine, Poland, Switzerland, Austria, Russia, Germany, Romania and the USA – both well-known experts and emerging young scholars. A growing qualitative and quantitative database has been collected to analyze recent dynamic changes in the Ukrainian society. Two larger projects “Region, nation and beyond” and “Transcultural contact zones in Ukraine” as well as a number of smaller sub-projects have been implemented collaboratively since 2012. The common denominator of these projects and working groups is their focus on regionalism that is believed to have significant influence on political cultures, identities, historical memory, economy and religion in Ukraine.
The Razumkov Centre is a non-governmental think tank founded in 1994. It conducts research of public policy in the spheres of domestic policy, state administration, economic policy, energy, land relations, foreign policy, social policy, international and regional security, and national security and defence. The Razumkov Centre unites experts in the fields of economy, energy, law, political sciences, international relations, military security, land relations, sociology, history, and philosophy. Its nationwide public opinion polls are carried out by over 300 interviewers.
Ukrainian Institute of National Memory is a research institution funded by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. It was established in 2006 to restore and preserve the national memory of the Ukrainian people.
